Ahh. Fall. You made it through the heat of summer, got the kids off to another year of school and now you can luxuriate in a sweater and sip on a spiced latte. Not quite. Fall brings on homework, tests, sports practice, sports games, school Halloween Parties, Trunk or Treats, birthday parties, you get the idea. This time of year I find that my client’s plates become full with errands, to-do lists and social engagements on top of the already loaded schedule. First, calm down. You will get through this just like you get through everything else that life throws at you. Second, read on for a few tips that will help support you through this busy season.
Utilize a schedule. Don’t just utilize a schedule for work, practices, games, or school. Schedule down time for you, too.
Say “no”. Now is not the time to take on additional projects or add to your already full plate.
Do something just for you each day. Eat that pumpkin scone!
Engage in emotional outlets: go for a walk, color in a coloring book, journal, paint, etc. Find something that leaves you feeling good.
The crisp air of fall and the changing of the leaves go by quickly before winter comes calling with it’s frigid air. Remember to enjoy this time with your family as it is fleeting. Take advantage of the simple things and don’t be so hard on yourself. You can do this!
